Upcoming Public Hearing: City of Yes
NYC is gearing up for an important public hearing regarding the “City of Yes” legislation, an important proposal that could have profound implications for Astoria and the rest of the City. This event is scheduled for October 22nd at City Hall, starting at 9:30 AM and going throughout the day.
City Hall Public Hearings give New Yorkers a chance to provide testimony to their Councilmembers in person and have that testimony recorded into the Public Record. For those seeking more information, you can visit the City Council’s official page.
This hearing represents a pivotal moment for civic engagement, and we encourage everyone to participate. While our organization has expressed support for the proposal through an op-ed, we urge Astoria residents to attend and share their views, regardless of their position. For a closer look at our position, read our op-ed here.
Members of the public who wish to testify can sign up in person on the day or in advance online at council.nyc.gov/landuse. Written testimony can be submitted up to 72 hours after the hearing adjourns to landusetestimony@council.nyc.gov. If you require non-English language interpretation, please email translationservice@council.nyc.gov or call (212) 788-6936 at least five days in advance. Include the hearing’s name and date, along with your contact information.
This is important legislation for Astoria and NYC—we hope you can take some time to voice your opinion!
