Garden Party for Suchitra Mattai at Socrates Sculpture Park
The Astoria community is invited to a special Garden Party at Socrates Sculpture Park on June 12th, from 6pm to 8pm. This event will celebrate Suchitra Mattai’s exhibition “We are nomads, we are dreamers.” Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Mattai’s first public art commission, which features soft sculptures crafted from vintage saris by a team of women. These pieces not only challenge conventional materials but also preserve ancestral narratives, blending Mattai’s cultural heritage with the historical essence of the East River.
The Barkha Dance Company will perform at the event, which should contribute to truly making the event a beautiful summer garden party.
Tickets for the garden party are available and can be purchased through the Socrates Sculpture Park website.
For further details or inquiries, you can reach out to Sarah Frazier, Senior Director of Advancement, at sf@socratessculpturepark.org.
As is often the case at Socrates Sculpture Park, this event promises to be a memorable evening where art and cultural heritage meet community engagement.
