MTA Unveils Congestion Pricing Review Process for Public Participation

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced a public review process for its proposed Central Business District Tolling Program, aimed at reducing traffic congestion in New York City. From December 27, 2023, to March 11, 2024, the MTA is welcoming public comments through various channels, including online, email, mail, fax, and voicemail. This initiative, following the Traffic Mobility Review Board’s recommendations, is part of a broader effort to improve urban mobility and public transportation funding.

To facilitate direct public engagement, the MTA has scheduled four hybrid virtual/in-person public hearings between February 29 and March 4, 2024. Interested individuals can register to speak at these hearings, which will be held at the MTA headquarters and available for remote participation via Zoom. All sessions will be livestreamed, ensuring wide accessibility. This public input phase is crucial for refining the tolling structure and aligns with the MTA’s commitment to an inclusive and transparent decision-making process.
