🎣 Train the Trainer: Community Fishing Leadership Program

OANA invites you to a free training session designed to teach community members how to lead local fishing events. This “Train the Trainer” program, sponsored by the Hallets Playground Alliance and led by I FISH NY, is for those interested in teaching fishing throughout the summer. The training will take place:

📅 Monday, June 2, 2025

🕓 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

📍 Hallets Cove Playground in Astoria.

This hands-on session covers the basics of saltwater fishing, local species identification, regulations, and essential skills like knot tying and casting techniques. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to share this knowledge with others and help build a vibrant fishing community on the Hallets Peninsula.

What you’ll gain:

• Knowledge of local saltwater fishing and regulations
• Practical techniques you can teach others
• The opportunity to give back to your community

Free and open to all – no experience necessary and all gear is provided. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in fishing education and community engagement.
