Congressional Field Hearing on the 2020 Census

Curious to learn more about the 2020 Census? The Congressional Oversight and Government Reform Committee is holding a Field Hearing on the Census on Tuesday May 28 at 2 pm, at LaGuardia Community College, in the Little Theater, 31-10 Thomson Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101. “Getting Counted: The Importance of the Census to State and Local Communities” will be hosted by Representative Jamie Raskin (MD-8). Representative Carolyn Maloney (NY-12) and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14)

Witnesses who are scheduled to appear at the hearing include:

Steven Choi, Executive Director of the New York Immigration Coalition;
Elizabeth OuYang, Brooklyn Complete Count Committee, Adjunct Professor, New York University, President of OCA (Asian Pacific American Advocates)-NY;
Melva Miller, Director of ABNY’s (Association for a Better New York) 2020 Census campaign
Joseph Salvo, Head of Population Division at NYC Dept of City Planning;
Greta Byrum, New School Digital Lab;
Julie Menin, NYC Census Director;
Marc Morial, National Urban League;
Gail Mellows, President, LaGuardia Community College;
Lurie Favors, General Counsel of the Center for Law & Social Justice in Brooklyn, NY.
