Become a Lifeguard this Summer!

Looking for a great summer gig in 2025? NYC Parks is hiring lifeguards, and this is your chance to join the team.

Why Apply? When you become a lifeguard you can earn your lifeguard, CPR, and first-aid certifications—skills that look great on any resume.

How to Get Started:

1. Prep: Make sure you meet the age and vision requirements. To get ready, you can attend a prep session. Find more information here.
2. Test: Sign up for a qualifying test this winter. You’ll need to pass a vision and swim exam. You can signup here.
3. Train: If you pass, you’ll dive into a 16-session training program (40 hours total).
4. Guard: Complete the training, and the City could offer you a full-time job.
