The Future Looks Great for Socrates

Exciting news from Socrates Sculpture Park!

We’re excited to share some incredible news: Socrates Sculpture Park has secured early support for our visionary new project, The Point, which will open in fall 2026 as part of our 40th Anniversary.

Located at the southernmost acre of the Park, The Point will be a reimagined civic space rooted in ecological care, artistic experimentation, and community belonging. It will feature an exhibition of sculptures by Mark di Suvero, along with expanded programming, artist commissions, community events, and education initiatives that invite the public to connect with the site’s legacy—and shape its future.

We are immensely grateful to:

  •    The Henry Luce Foundation, with a transformative commitment of $300,000
  •    The Sidney E. Frank Foundation, contributing $50,000
  •    The Charina Foundation, also contributing $50,000

While we are proud to serve as the steward of Socrates, a public NYC Park, as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, Socrates relies almost entirely on private contributions to fund our daily operations, horticulture and groundskeeping, artist fellowships, and free public programming. In a time when arts and cultural funding is under increasing threat, these new commitments speak volumes—and we are deeply grateful.

These investments – and continued support from our community – affirm the possibilities of The Point and the future ahead. With much still to accomplish, we thank these foundations and you for believing in this next chapter for Socrates.

We also want to remind folks of the upcoming Party in the Park Fundraiser at Socrates—learn more and RSVP here.
