This September, The Noguchi Museum invites the community to explore new exhibitions and programs that celebrate art, play, and connection. Still on display is Temitayo Ogunbiyi: You will wonder if we would have been friends, featuring many special events for you, your friends, and family.

Sculptures commissioned for The Noguchi Museum installed among Noguchi’s permanent works. Ogunbiyi’s art engages themes of play, diaspora, and cross-cultural dialogue.

Free First Friday

Friday, September 5 | 11 am–8 pm
The final Free First Friday of the year. Enjoy free admission, art-making activities from 3–5 pm, and at 6:30 pm an artist talk with Temitayo Ogunbiyi in the Education Studio. Limited tickets available at the door.

Family Programs

Gallery Kit | Friday, September 5 | 3–5 pm
Pick up art materials from museum educators and explore the exhibition through art-making in the galleries. Free with Free First Friday admission.

Art for Tots (Ages 3–4): Play | Sunday, September 7 | 10:30–11:30 am
Preschoolers and their caregivers explore artworks through sound, music, and movement, inspired by Ogunbiyi and Noguchi’s ideas of play.

Stroller Tour | Wednesday, September 10 | 10:30–11:30 am
For new parents and caregivers with infants 0–12 months. Includes sensory activities for babies, plus time to connect with other families in the Education Studio.

Open Studio: Storytelling | Saturday, September 13 | 11 am–1 pm
Families of all ages explore the galleries and create art together, reflecting on the stories behind Noguchi’s and Ogunbiyi’s works.

Art for Tots (Ages 1–2): Play | Wednesday, September 17 | 10:30–11:30 am
A sensory-focused program for the youngest learners, inspired by sound, movement, and play in Ogunbiyi’s artwork.

Art for Families: Pathways | Saturday, September 20 | 10:30 am–12:30 pm
Families with children ages 5–11 engage in conversations in the galleries and hands-on art-making activities exploring pathways of play and imagination.

Family Workshop with Hiromi Kiba and Awa Odori New York Ren | Sunday, September 21 | 11 am–12:30 pm
Families with children ages 8–14 explore sculpture through poetry, dance, and music in a workshop inspired by Noguchi’s Awa Odori (1982). Includes a live performance of Awa Odori dance and instruments.

Drawing from a Distance

Monday, September 15 | 7:30–9:00 pm
A free online program held monthly, combining drawing with discussion of Noguchi’s work.
