Rainey Park in Astoria Reopens After $8.5 Million Upgrade
Good news for Astoria! Rainey Park has reopened after an $8.5 million makeover and a lovely ribbon cutting ceremony. The park was closed since September 2023 but is now open again with new playgrounds, fitness areas, spray showers, picnic spots, and better paths for walking and biking.
The upgrades include play areas for kids of all ages—there are soft turf hills for the little ones and an elevated walkway for older kids. There’s also a spray area where kids can cool off plus improved accessibility with wider entrances and safer paths.
The project was supported by the City Council, the Mayor’s Office, and Queens Borough President.
We’re excited for folks to enjoy this beautiful and accessible park again this summer!
