QUEENS FOOD DAY RETURNS

On Saturday October 14, Socrates Sculpture Park is hosting the popular festival Queens Food Day. The day will feature fun activities and demonstrations relating to locally sourced food, gardening, urban farming nutrition and food justice. Co-hosts Queens Action Council (QuAC) will moderate a speaker’s panel featuring community representatives. Lauren Hale Biniaris’ performance of “Hungry” will explores our world’s relationship with seeds.

The event is from 11 am to 3 pm, rain or shine. Come on down to Socrates and meet participating partners include NYC Compost Project at Big Reuse, DSNY Organics Collection, Hellgate Farm, Smiling Hogshead Ranch, Spice Tree Organics, The Connected Chef, and Allergic to Salad, and get cooking!

Clare Doyle is a graduate of the M.A. program in Museum Studies at the University of Leicester, UK. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies as well as a B.A. in Archaeology and History from University Dublin, Ireland. She has worked for 30 years in library reference publishing in New York. Clare is the Vice President of Green Shores NYC, a non-profit group that advocates for a cleaner, greener and more connected waterfront in Astoria and Long Island City
