DSNY’s Citywide Containerization Scoping Plan

The Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has launched a new initiative to containerize trash citywide, moving waste off sidewalks and into bins and stationary containers across all five boroughs.

This will affect parking, traffic, neighborhood design, and daily life. DSNY is preparing a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and needs public input.

Public Scoping Meeting: October 20th, 2025 (virtual @ 9 AM–12 PM & 1 PM–4 PM)
Comment Deadline: October 30th, 2025, 5 PM
