Earth Day Festivities in Astoria Park

On Sunday April 22nd, from 1 to 4 pm, Astoria Park Alliance is hosting a nature-themed Earth Day event on the main lawn of Astoria Park to kick off the 2018 season of events. This free and family-friendly event will feature live music, dance performances, environmental education and sustainability demos that include bee-keeping, bird watching walks and a demonstration on how to build a solar oven.

Activities will include face painting, arts & crafts, relay races, fitness activities, prizes, raffles and more! Learning activities will focus on gardening, recycling, riverside cleanliness and water conservation.

There will also be an earth-themed magic show, dance performances by Variety Boys & Girls Club dance troops and Zumba from Unlimited Body NY.

Closing remarks will be delivered by District 22 Council Member and Chair of the New York City Council’s Environmental Protection Committee Costa Constantinides.

Come celebrate the earth with APA, learn something about the environment, and have fun in the park! We hope to see you on 4/22.
