December Events and Family Fun at the Noguchi
The Noguchi Museum recently released its December schedule, offering a full month of exhibitions and programs for our friends and neighbors.
Against Time: The Noguchi Museum 40th Anniversary Reinstallation
Open through January 11, 2026, this special exhibition reimagines Noguchi’s own gallery arrangements with sculpture, drawings, project models, and dance sets. Winter hours run Wednesday–Sunday, 10 AM–5 PM. The Museum will be closed December 25 and January 1.
Offsite Exhibition
Toshiko Takaezu: Worlds Within is on view at the Chazen Art Museum in Wisconsin through December 23.
Upcoming Programs
- Free First Friday – Friday, December 5, 10 AM–5 PM. Free admission, plus an art-making activity from 2–4 PM.
- Hands On: Wagashi – Sunday, December 7, 1–4:30 PM. Learn traditional Japanese confectionery with Phoebe Ogawa. Registration required.
- Drawing from a Distance – Monday, December 15, 7:30–9 PM. A free online drawing program for all skill levels.
Family Programs
- Gallery Kit – Friday, December 5, 2–4 PM. Explore Noguchi’s work through art-making in the galleries. This month’s project focuses on Akari-inspired designs and the symbolism of winter light. Free with Free First Friday admission; no registration required.
- Open Studio: Texture – Saturday, December 13, 11 AM–1 PM. Families with children of all ages can experiment with tools and materials to learn about texture in sculpture. Free with admission; no registration required.
- Art for Families: Warmth – Sunday, December 14, 10:30 AM–12:30 PM. A guided family art-making session inspired by Noguchi’s work. Free with admission; no registration required.
