Update on the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE)
Renewable energy is coming to NYC! The Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) project is set to begin construction in Astoria, bringing 1,250 MW of clean energy to NYC through a buried transmission cable.
As a result of construction, Astoria residents should expect to see workers surveying, mobilizing and setting up equipment, excavating, and performing other construction activities. This may result in delays, construction noise, and possibly some detours. Work hours will be maintained Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm and will take place on the following roads:
- Vernon Blvd (35th Ave to Broadway): Summer 2024 to Fall 2024
- Broadway (Vernon Blvd to 14th St): End of Summer 2024 to Beginning of Winter 2024
- 14th St (Broadway to Astoria Park South): Summer 2024 to Summer 2025
- Astoria Park: Beginning of Winter 2024 to Spring 2025
- Shore Blvd in Astoria Park: Summer 2024 to Winter 2024
- Shore Blvd (Ditmars to 20th Ave): Beginning of Winter 2024 to Spring 2025
- 20th Ave (Shore Blvd to 19th St): End of Summer 2024 to Beginning of Summer 2025
Note: Schedules may change due to weather or subsurface conditions.
