August Events at the Noguchi

This August, The Noguchi Museum continues to reimagine the boundaries between art, play, and community through a range of exhibitions and events. At the center is Temitayo Ogunbiyi: You will wonder if we would have been friends, an ongoing exhibition that explores cross-generational and cross-cultural dialogue with Isamu Noguchi’s legacy.

Now on view
This new exhibition features sculptures commissioned for The Noguchi Museum, installed among Isamu Noguchi’s permanent works. Ogunbiyi’s artwork explores play, diaspora, and imaginative dialogue across generations.

Community Day
Friday, August 9 | Free Admission
Celebrate the exhibition with free museum access, multilingual tours, and art-making workshops for all ages. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

Bang on a Can: Amma Ateria
Saturday, August 10 | 3–4 pm
A live sound performance by electroacoustic composer Amma Ateria, presented in collaboration with Bang on a Can. Admission includes full access to the museum.

Gimlets in the Garden
Tuesday, August 13 | Evening event
A summer garden party for museum members featuring an introduction to Ogunbiyi’s exhibition by Curator and Director of Research Matthew Kirsch, plus cocktails in the sculpture garden.

Free First Friday
Friday, August 1 | 11 am–8 pm
Admission is free all day with extended evening hours. A limited number of walk-up tickets will be available.

Arte en el Noguchi
Fridays, August 1, 8, and 15 | 10 am–12 pm
Spanish-language art workshops for families, led by artist Sol Aramendi.

Making Your Mark: Journey
Friday, August 1 | 4–7 pm
Opening of the summer exhibition by NYC high school students participating in the museum’s art-making program. On view through August 17 during select hours.
