Astoria Greenmarket Will Not Return This Summer

Sadly, the GrowNYC farmers’ market will not return to Socrates Sculpture Park this summer. DNAInfo is reporting that the closure is due to lack of sales. It would seem to the casual observer that the park is busy every Saturday during the summer months, but GrowNYC says that on days when there weren’t special events, the farmers weren’t seeing enough business.

Socrates plans to partner directly with farmers for a pilot market on Saturdays starting in mid-June, so you may still be able to buy produce on your way back from morning yoga in the park. And the Wednesday Greenmarket on 14th St (between 31st Ave and 31st Road) will return on July 5.
