Good News for Telehealth!
Good news! Congress has just approved a two-year extension of Medicare telehealth flexibilities through December 31, 2027, preserving expanded coverage that began during the COVID era. This includes continued access to audio-only visits and the ability to receive care from home as part of the recent federal funding package.
For Medicare beneficiaries, this means continued access to vital telehealth services for at least two more years, helping patients stay connected to care without unnecessary travel, delays, or barriers.
This outcome was driven by all of our advocacy! From signing petitions and sharing our op-ed to contacting Members of Congress and participating in discussions with policy experts, community voices played a real role in restoring these protections and preventing a rollback to pre-pandemic limitations.
While this extension is an important step forward, it remains a temporary fix. Continued effort is needed to secure permanent, patient-centered telehealth policy that ensures long-term access and stability.
