Astoria Library Begins Major Renovation
The Astoria Library, a cornerstone of our community for decades, has officially begun a major renovation. The branch will remain closed until 2029 as crews work to modernize and expand the facility, creating a welcoming, accessible, and state-of-the-art space for residents of all ages.
The renovation will include updated reading areas, improved technology access, flexible community spaces, and enhanced accessibility features, ensuring that the library continues to serve as a hub for learning, creativity, and connection in Astoria. This project has been long-awaited and reflects the Queens Public Library’s commitment to investing in community spaces that truly help Astoria residents.
The ceremonial groundbreaking was attended by community leaders, including Richard Khuzami, President of the Old Astoria Neighborhood Association, and representatives from Queens Public Library. The event marked the official start of construction and celebrated the vision for a revitalized library.
