October Updates from Central Astoria
OANA Admin OANA wanted to share some highlights from the recent Central Astoria newsletter:
Community Events
- Oct 4, 10AM–12PM: 30th Ave Community Cleanup. Volunteers and students can join to earn service hours.
- Oct 12, 11AM–6PM: Broadway Street Fair form Crescent St to 41st St.
- Oct 15, 12PM: Maspeth Federal Savings Grand Opening. This will nclude a new mural on Steinway St.
- Oct 20, 12PM–2PM: Diwali Celebration at Playground XXXV. There will be chalk rangolis, make-and-take diya kits, and a Bollywood dance workshop.
- Oct 26, 1PM–4PM: 10th Annual Batty Over Halloween at Astoria Park North Lawn. Come enjoy crafts, performances, and giveaways!
Local Spotlights
- Meadow Dessert now opens earlier for weekday mornings: Tue–Thu 8AM–9PM, Fri 8AM–10PM, Sat 11:30AM–11PM, Sun 11:30AM–8:30PM (Closed Mondays).
- Kids Discovery Expo Recap: Over 20 local businesses hosted games, crafts, and activities at The Lior on Sept 6.
- LIC Kleaners celebrates 15 years on Steinway Street – a neighborhood favorite for skaters, sneakerheads, and art events, including the Steinway Street Art Walk.
