Scooter Moped Parking

We at OANA have been noticing that there are some issues with Scooter and Moped street parking.

Often they are parked too close to cars and that the cars cannot move without knocking over the 2-wheelers. While there is supposed to be a 4 ft distance between car and Scooter or Moped, this is often very difficult for the rider to find.

We would like to see if Parking Spots that are currently marked “No Standing” at corners in order to give car and truck drivers an unimpeded view of traffic coming down the street( Also known as :”Daylighting”) could be designated for Scooter or Moped parking only. This way, the view would still be unimpeded, and the 2 wheeled vehicles would have a safe spot to park. This makes the best possible use of available street parking.

We would like your comments, as we plan on proposing this to the NYC DOT.
