Notify NYC App is Live

The launch of the Notify NYC app will be a boon for those with smartphones who want to get notifications about weather emergencies like blizzards, transit problems, and suspensions of alternate side of the street parking rules. In its report, Gothamist gave some examples of the kinds of alerts sent by the app in its first week, such as a flooding alert and news about disruption of the East River ferry service due to the UN General Assembly.

So if you want to know if you need to get the snow blower out or if the city’s about to spray for West Nile virus, you can download the app here, for Apple or Android. You can choose to have notifications sent to your current location or pre-select up to 5 locations on which to get alerts—home, work, school, etc. Keep in the know on the go!
