21st Street Improvement Project Public Meetings

As many of you know, the NYC DOT is proposing putting bus lanes on 21st street between Hoyt Avenue and Queensborough Plaza.

They proposed 3 configurations, and OANA created one. OANA then created a survey where the Community could express their preferences. Or say “no”, leave everything the same.

With this information, OANA took a position regarding bus lanes. We advised against the creation of the bus lanes, unless certain steps were taken to make sure they met the needs of all residents.

The DOT has announced a virtual public hearing, and we urge everyone to attend and make their concerns known. The decisions made today will affect our quality of life for many years!

OANA President Richard Khuzami urges all residents and businesses to participate. 21st street is the artery through our neighborhood that affects everyone’s quality of life. Do not let the city impose their plans without participation from the neighborhood. Only 30 people showed up for the first public hearing.
