MTA Brings Back Summer Saturday Discounts for LIRR and Metro-North Ticketholders

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has brought back a great deal for summer weekends: the “Summer Saturday” discount program. Starting July 6th and running through August 31st, monthly ticketholders for both the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Metro-North Railroad can take advantage of a unique offer that allows unlimited travel to any station on the network on Saturdays. On top of that, each ticketholder can bring up to two additional passengers for only $1 each.

This promotional effort is in conjunction with other MTA initiatives aimed at improving overall transit usage, which includes increased service on many subway lines and expanded bus schedules. As summer calls, the LIRR and Metro-North are working to connect passengers to the beautiful beaches of Long Island and the stunning Hudson Valley. The return of these discounts will hopefully encourage more New Yorkers to explore the diverse offerings accessible by rail.
