Street Cleaning and Alternate Side Parking Old Astoria

OANA has taken a position regarding street cleaning and Alternate side Parking in Old Astoria. While we support using zoning as a tool to determine street sweeping standards, we understand there are other solutions that may alleviate an untenable situation, such as eliminating in its entirety the cleaning of streets 2 times a week on each side ( For a total of 4 times per week), and instead capping it at 1 time per week per side (Total 2 per week). This is proposed by Councilman Costas Constantinides.

Regardless of what method is used, this is an urgent quality of life issue that must be addressed asap. If we disregard issues such as cleanliness and parking, all the investment of time and money, both public and private, will amount to nothing! There is no rational reason why local residents should have to put up with the vast amount of litter we face! Especially as solutions are obvious!
