Leon Hovsepian, NYU Wagner : How Finance affects Housing and Development in NYC.
Leon Hovsepian is a graduate-school Adjunct Professor teaching real estate finance at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service and Columbia University GSAPP programs.
Leon was formerly the Executive Director of Credit & Special Underwriting at New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), within the Office of Development, and chaired HPD’s Credit Committee for four years. HPD is the nation’s largest municipal housing agency of its kind, and is an innovator in affordable housing finance and policy. Leon’s work focused on holistic reviews of affordable housing investments, assessing costs along with public benefits, and informing housing policy through creative financial analysis.
Before joining HPD Development, Leon worked in HPD’s Office of Asset and Property Management as the Director of Finance, where he reviewed the performance of the existing affordable housing portfolio. Prior to HPD, Leon worked in real estate acquisitions looking at market rate properties across the country. And in a previous career, he worked for JPMorgan Chase trading US$ and JPY interest rate books of swaps, forwards, futures, and bonds.
Most recently Leon transitioned from public service back to the private sector, going to help a builder, Omnibuild Construction, start a new development practice focusing on affordable as well as market-rate housing and mixed-use projects.
Leon holds a Master of Science in Real Estate from NYU’s Schack Institute, a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University.

A member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, Anthoula has been featured in several films and TV shows and has performed her solo show off-Broadway! Currently, she is an executive producer of Olympia, a documentary about Olympia Dukakis.”
David Burgoa, NHS of Queens: Jobs at the new LGA Airport – Personal Finance in Housing.
“David Burgoa from Neighborhood Housing Service (NHS) of Queens, on behalf of the LaGuardia Career Center, will be presenting on the local hiring program for Queens Residents, developed in partnership with the Port Authority and the LaGuardia Airport.
Some of the topics of discussion will include: What the Partnership Is, What they do, and how to apply.Also, discussion on NHS of Queens Services and Programs in the following topics: Affordable Housing, Financial Capabilities, First-Time Homebuying, and Homeowner Assistance “.
