Family Events at the Noguchi this September
Here’s a slightly tighter version while keeping the same style and information:
September brings a full schedule of family programs to The Noguchi Museum, with opportunities for children of different ages and their caregivers to explore Isamu Noguchi’s artwork through art-making, sensory activities, and time in the galleries and sculpture garden.
Free First Friday
On Friday, September 4, the museum will offer free admission throughout the day, with extended hours from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Visitors of all ages can also take part in art-making activities in the galleries from 3 to 5 p.m. Advance reservations are not required.
Open Studio: Connections
On Saturday, September 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., families with children of all ages can participate in Open Studio: Connections.
Families will explore the galleries before creating their own sculptures in the Education Studio. This month’s program focuses on connections between people, earth, and nature, inspired by Noguchi’s artwork. The program is free with museum admission, and advance registration is not required.
Art for Tots: Opposites
On Tuesday, September 22, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Art for Tots will offer a program for children ages 1–2 and their caregivers.
The session explores textures in the galleries and sculpture garden, using Noguchi’s artwork to introduce opposites such as “hard” and “soft.” Registration is required.
Stroller Tour
On Wednesday, September 23, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., The Noguchi Museum will host a stroller-friendly tour for parents of newborns ages 0–12 months.
The tour begins in the galleries with an introduction to Noguchi’s life and artwork before moving to the Education Studio. Families can connect with one another while babies take part in music and sensory activities. Registration is required.
Art for Families: Nature
On Saturday, September 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., families with children ages 5–11 can participate in Art for Families: Nature.
The program includes conversations in the galleries followed by art-making in the Education Studio. Families will spend time in Noguchi’s sculpture garden and create artwork using natural materials. Registration is required.
Art for Tots: Opposites for Ages 3–4
On Sunday, September 27, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., The Noguchi Museum will offer another Art for Tots session, this time for children ages 3–4 and their caregivers.
Families will explore artwork in the galleries while learning strategies for navigating museum spaces with young children. The session will also explore textures and opposites such as “hard” and “soft” through Noguchi’s artwork and sculpture garden. Registration is required.
For Long Island City families, September offers several ways to introduce young children to The Noguchi Museum through hands-on activities, art-making, and exploration. With programs designed for newborns through school-age children, there are opportunities throughout the month for families to experience the museum together.
The Noguchi Museum is located at 9-01 33rd Road, at Vernon Boulevard.
If you want it even tighter, I’d cut about another 15–20% from the individual program descriptions.
