NYC Parks Issues Emergency Rule on Special Event Permits
NYC Parks has announced a temporary rule that may impact summer events. From June 11 through July 19, 2026, the city may deny permits for new large events in parks due to limited police resources during the FIFA World Cup and the U.S. 250th anniversary celebrations. This primarily affects events that did not take place in 2025 and require an NYPD presence.
Events that were held last year, smaller gatherings, and anything scheduled outside those dates are not affected. If you’re planning a new event in a park during that window, you may face delays or denials, so it’s best to plan ahead or consider alternative dates.
