Candidate Debate for NY State Assembly District 36 Replay

OANA hosted a community debate for candidates in the Special Election for New York State Assembly District 36 to fill Mamdani’s old seat. The debate took place on January 22nd at the Hellenic Cultural Center in Astoria. Thank you to everyone who attended in person and who watched the livestream.

The debate was moderated by Richard Khuzami, President of Old Astoria Neighborhood Association. Questions were taken live from the audience and covered key issues impacting our community, including housing affordability and tenant protections, immigration, access to healthcare, public safety, education, and other quality-of-life concerns raised by local residents.

Voting Information

Early voting starts January 24th, 2025. Election Day is Tuesday, February 3rd. Sunday and Monday voting sites are cancelled due to the snowstorm.
