Sean’s Place Reopens After Renovations
CDoyle Another Astoria playground has reopened after renovations! Sean’s Place, at 31-32 38th Street, was named for an NYPD officer, Officer Sean McDonald from Astoria, who was killed in the line of duty in 1994. The playground is sporting a whole new look after it has gotten a makeover. Families can now enjoy the new equipment, spray showers, fences, benches and plantings. New bluestone pavement was installed in the park, as well as new asphalt in the basketball court. An ADA-compliant ramp by the swings is also scheduled for installation.
District 22 Council Member Costa Constantinides said:
I’m proud to help re-open Sean’s Place Playground with new play equipment for children of all ages and abilities, plantings, basketball court, and benches. We look forward to seeing children enjoy the new upgrades for many years to come. Thank you to the Borough President’s office and Parks Department for their partnership in bringing this improvement to fruition.
