This “Train the Trainer” program, sponsored by the Hallets Playground Alliance and led by I FISH NY, is for those interested in teaching fishing throughout the summer. The training will take place:\n📅 Monday, June 2, 2025\n🕓 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM\n📍 Hallets Cove Playground in Astoria.\nThis hands-on session covers the basics of saltwater fishing, local species identification, regulations, and essential skills like knot tying and casting techniques. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to share this knowledge with others and help build a vibrant fishing community on the Hallets Peninsula.\nWhat you’ll gain:\n\nSkills to lead community fishing events\nKnowledge of local saltwater fishing and regulations\nPractical techniques you can teach others\nThe opportunity to give back to your community\n\nFree and open to all – no experience necessary and all gear is provided.
