SAFE Disposal Event in Astoria Park, September 9

To help residents dispose of harmful household products safely, DSNY hosts SAFE (Solvents, Automotive, Flammables, and Electronics) Disposal Events throughout the year in all five boroughs. On Saturday September 9, there will be a SAFE disposal event in the parking lot of Astoria Park, from 10 am to 4 pm. The event will be held rain or shine. Cars should enter from Ditmars Blvd onto 21st Street. A walk-in area is available for residents taking public transportation.

Only NYC residential waste is accepted at SAFE Disposal Events, and no commercial vehicles are allowed. Residents must provide proof of NYC residency, such as a NYS driver’s license or utility bill.

Items that can be disposed of include electronics, motor oil, transmission fluid, and batteries, unwanted medicines or cosmetics, thermometers, household products such as pesticides, paint, hazardous cleaners, and CFL (compact fluorescent) light bulbs. Check here for a complete list of items.
