Auto, Pedestrian, and Parking changes – Welling Court Vernon Blvd, Main ave

The NYC Department of Transportation will be presenting their new changes for the Vernon Blvd, Main Ave, 30th Ave. intersections in Old Astoria at the upcoming OANA meeting on Feb 28th at 7 PM at St George Church.  At 14th st and 27th ave, Astoria.

The proposal includes adding two new crosswalks at 8th Street and 30th Avenue and 30th Avenue at Main Avenue with enhanced crossings. The DOT would also install five new curb extensions and expand the Greenstreets Triangle with a curb extension.

One block of Main Avenue between 8th Street and 30th Avenue would also be converted into a one-way street with the new plan.

If you have questions regarding these changes, please come to the meeting. You can RSVP here.

DOT will also be available to answer any other issues you may have, including speed bumps, pot holes, parking, traffic, etc.

We at OANA applaud any actions that will improve both driver, bike, and pedestrian safety. With the advent of the Ferry in this neighborhood, we expect pedestrian and Bicycle traffic to increase, and we want to correct any issues impacting safety.
